On the 5th July 1967, the Queen Mother visited Stoneleigh Park to open the office. The business has its roots in the Farm Electric Centre, established by the Electricity Council.

Andrew Kneeshaw joins the company
Andrew started working for the company in 1982. He was Managing Director from 2000 until 2017 when he stepped down from the role.
The electricity industry is privatised.
Farm Electric Centre becomes part of the Electricity Association and subsequently its Cheshire based technical division EA Technology. It also changes from Farm Electric to Farm Energy, recognising its wider interest in energy rather than just electricity.
Chris and Tim join the team
Tim Pratt and Chris Plackett started working for the company. Tim is currently our Technical Director and Chris Plackett was Commercial Director until 2017 when he became our Managing Director.
FEC Services Ltd is established.
Farm Energy Centre splits from EA technology to become a management owned private limited company. FEC Services Ltd is established.
Acquisition of Gateway Energy Solutions
After a few years operation, it becomes clear that business interests have expanded beyond agriculture into the wider commercial world. We decide to dual brand through the acquisition of Gateway Energy Solutions.
Feed-in Tariff incentive is introduced
The Feed-in Tariff incentive was a revolution in the use of renewable generation and opened up a new area of accreditation work for us.
Renewable Heat Incentive is introduced promoting more business in the renewable sector.
Changed name to FEC Energy
In September we rebranded as FEC Energy because as a broader-based company and with services which span all areas of energy consultancy the time had come to bring things back together under a new but familiar identity - FEC Energy.
The company celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
This year, FEC Energy is celebrating its 50th anniversary and we intend to make it our biggest and best year yet. To celebrate this milestone we are holding a number of events in order to raise money for Mind, the charity chosen by our team.
Chris Plackett becomes our MD
In April, Chris Plackett took over as Managing Director from Andrew Kneeshaw who, after 17 years in the post, stepped down to take a general directorial role prior to his retirement later this year.
FEC Energy joins the NFU
On the 24 August 2017, the FEC Energy Ltd business was sold to the National Farmers Union (NFU) in a strategic move which recognises the increasing involvement of farmers in the energy business.
